Nearly fourteen Portuguese competitors will be racing in Águeda.

The national colors will be highlighted with the participation of Luís Outeiro and Afonso Gomes in the MXGP and MX2 categories in this 2024 edition of the Portuguese Motocross Grand Prix, taking place in Águeda next weekend.

Luís Outeiro, a veteran in the MXGP class, returns after his presence in 2023. As the leader of the national MX1 championship and MX1/Elite champion in 2022, Outeiro certainly aims to achieve point-scoring positions to make up for the collarbone injury suffered on this same track the previous year.

Competing this year in the MX1 category, Afonso Gomes chooses to line up in the MX2 class, following his path of evolution in the sport. After his participation in the EMX250 European Championship in Águeda last year, Gomes, a native of Coimbra, brings with him the experience of representing Portugal in MX2 in the last edition of the Motocross of Nations.

In addition to these two brave riders, over a dozen talented young individuals will represent Portugal in both classes of the European Motocross Championship.

In the EMX250 category, designed for athletes under 21 years old using 250cc 4T bikes, five riders will carry the national colors: Sandro Lobo, current leader of the national MX2 championship, Martim Espinho, current 2nd place in the CNMX2, Pedro Rino, current 3rd place in the CNMX2, along with Alex Almeida and Afonso Simões.

In the EMX125 class, reserved for riders between 13 and 17 years old using 125cc 2T bikes, the Portuguese flag will be defended by Tomás Santos, junior MX125 national champion in 2023 and current leader of this category's championship in 2024, Rodrigo Barros, Bernardo Pinto, national MX85 champion in 2023, Filipe Saúde, Miguel Caridade, Gonçalo Cardoso, and Vasco Salgado.

An incredible opportunity to support the promising Portuguese riders!

Next weekend, everyone in Águeda.
